I'm fortunate to have some deep friendships. Honest, honorable,
and caring. Without them, I wouldn't have made it through the
past few years. I won't ever take them for granted again.
My friends, my children and many others have led me to realize
that there is just one thing that every human being, no matter
who they are or where they are or what they have or what they
know, must do at least once in their life in order to know
happiness and that is to love someone absolutely, whole
heartedly. It's RULE #1 and it's the only rule. Simple, not easy.
As time permits and the spirit moves me, I'll try to illuminate how
I got where I am. From the writings of a 12th century poet to
standing on a Colorado mountain with 400 other men, amazed at
what we'd all learned about ourselves. In ancient times men
helped each other become better men and taught their sons much
more of what they needed to know to become good men. We
need to do that now, for ourselves and our sons as well as for
the women in our lives.
